NICE SHORTS – SHORT FILMS WHEN YOU WANT THEM

It has never been a better time to be a flmmaker. Advances in digital cameras and editing software allow even the most neophyte director a freedom of expression never experienced before. But the problem for these budding auteurs is how to share their work with an appreciative audience.

”There are so many short films out there and most of them are struggling to find an audience because film festivals can only accept a limited number,” says Carlo Ledesma, General Manager of Nice Shorts. “We want to help up-and-coming filmmakers get noticed by providing their films with a platform for getting their work seen by a massive online audience.”

Nice Shorts is a new Australian based website for filmmakers and visual artists to showcase their short films, animations, and music videos. Its primary goal is to serve as an online portfolio for filmmakers to help them show their work to prospective clients and employers and spread their artistic vision to viewers all over the world. And, according to Carlo, “all it takes is the right person watching at the right time to make your filmmaking dreams happen.”

Nice Shorts is completely free to filmmakers, artists, casual viewers, and registered users.

Nice Shorts is owned and operated by Viocorp, Australia's leading streaming media company.

SITE FEATURES

Nice Shorts is first Australian website of its kind on the internet, and has some great features:

  • A unique profile page for every filmmaker whose film is chosen for the website. This profile can contain production stills, resume and filmography, and general information about him/herself.
  • Mini documentaries about people in the film industry -- what goes on in the day of the life of a stuntman? What does a gaffer get paid to do? Just how challenging is it to colour grade a film in post?
  • Mini “Behind-the-Scenes” featurettes of new and future releases
  • Interactivity for users – we give armchair critics a chance to flex their critical muscle by rating the content and publishing reviews, whether it’s thumbs up or thumbs down
  • Exclusive interviews with prominent industry people who provide insight on how to break into (and stay in) the business. Interviews already recorded include:
    • Tony Grierson, CEO, Sydney Film Festival
    • Adam Elliott, Oscar winner for “Harvie Krumpet”
    • Jeff Purser, Producer, Templar Films, “Fat Pizza” and “Shadow of Sins”
    • Tony Chu, Founder, NAFA (Networking Action for Filmmakers and Actors)
    • Gary Eck, Stand Up Comic, Actor and Tropfest Winner 2004
    • Rob Carlton, Tropfest Winner 2006
    • Claire McCarthy, Director, “Cross Life”
    • Mark Pesce - Futurist
    • Mark Woods - CEO of AusFilm
    • Luke Eve - Tropfest winner 2005
    • Tom Schut, Decoder Ring Soundtrack for 'Somersault'
