What sort of short film can I submit to Nice Shorts?
We welcome original films of almost any genre with the exception of pornography (there are enough sites for that anyway).
What films does Nice Shorts not accept?
Anything with pornography, music or images with copyright issues, or non-original work (i.e. grabbed images from TV or movies) will not be accepted.
How long should my film be?
Ideally we would like your films to be no longer than 15 minutes, but if it’s extremely good we will be more than happy to accommodate your work. Keep in mind though that it’s Nice Shorts, not Nice Full Lengths!
How do I submit my films?
It’s really easy: register yourself, fill out your profile form, and then you have the option of sending us you films via two methods email or post. Detailed instructions are available in the members area.
Do all the films submitted make it onto the site?
We welcome all submissions. However, we do have an acquisition team that screens each film to make sure all guidelines are met and that the quality of work meets a certain standard. They’re really easy to please though, so bribery isn’t necessary.
How will I know when my film is ready for viewing?
Once the acquisition team clears your film, you will be sent a notification email telling you that your film, along with your profile, is online.
The Nice Shorts Award. What is it?
At the end of the year, we will be having the first ever Nice Shorts Award, honouring the best films that have graced our website. We will be screening the nominated films in a cinema, with the chance to win some amazing prizes for the filmmakers. All films that make it onto the Nice Shorts website are automatically eligible.
If my film screens on Nice Shorts, am I still free to screen my work in other websites and/or festivals?
Yes. We are totally non-exclusive and you retain all rights to you film, which means you are free to exhibit your work on any other site or venue of your choice. Our goal is to simply be one of the many options for you to screen your work.
Are there any hidden costs?
Nope. Membership to Nice Shorts is absolutely free. All you need to do is sign up and you’re set.
What do I get by being a Nice Shorts Member?
As a member you can submit and screen your short films. Plus you will have access exclusive film-geek content such as interviews with the who’s who of Australian film, mini-docos about the film industry, a newsletter with regular updates, and more insider information.
